Let’s take a look at the bosses in Ghostbusters World, how bosses work, and how to catch bosses.
Basic Guide to Bosses in Ghostbusters World
- 3 Types of Bosses
- Mini-Bosses
- Global Single-Player Bosses
- Global Multiplayer Bosses
- Bosses cannot be caught with traps.
- Bosses have minions, regular ghosts do not.
- Bosses can be added to your Containment Unit by combining shards.
- Weapons to use on boss battles: Particle Thrower and Boson Caster.
Mini-Bosses
These are bosses that spawn in the wild. They are pretty rare, but will show up near dimensional doors. The interesting thing about them is they can show up a lot farther away from the door than other ghosts. You’ll see them with a Red Circle beneath.
Mini-Boss | Shards | PKE | Rank |
Achira | 50 | 10,000 | 5 |
Boogaloo | 50 | 10,000 | 5 |
Hungry Manitou | 50 | 10,000 | 5 |
Ghash | 40 | 5,000 | 4 |
Mayhem | 30 | 1,000 | 3 |
Nunzio Scoleri | 40 | 5,000 | 4 |
Spider Witch | 30 | 1,000 | 3 |
Tony Scoleri | 30 | 1,000 | 3 |
Vinz Clortho | 40 | 5,000 | 4 |
Zuul | 40 | 5,000 | 4 |
Global Single-Player Bosses
Global Single-Player Bosses show up in the top-left of your screen, with a countdown that gives you an hour and nearby locations that the ghosts will appear. Each day of the week, Monday-Friday, there is only one boss ghost available to fight. On Saturday and Sunday you can pick any of three bosses to fight, by selecting the one you want from the boss list that shows up on the top-left of the screen.
- Weekday (Mon-Fri) Spawn Times: 12:00pm, 4:00pm, 6:00pm, 8:00pm
- Weekend (Sat & Sun) Spawn Times: 12:30pm, 4:30pm, 6:30pm, 8:30pm
- As long as you can tap these ghosts, you can fight them.
- A countdown of 1 hour will appear before they spawn.
- They’ll be around for 20 minutes when they spawn.
- There is no limit to the number of times you can fight them.
- You pick the difficulty level. The game will warn you if the level you picked is impossible with your current weapons.
Global Single-Player Boss | Day(s) | Shards | PKE | Rank |
Gozer | Monday | 50 | 10,000 | 5 |
Idulnas | Tuesday & Thursday | 40 | 5,000 | 4 |
Chairman Wellesly | Wednesday & Friday | 40 | 5,000 | 4 |
Nine-Tailed Fox | Saturday & Sunday | 50 | 10,000 | 5 |
Vigo | Saturday & Sunday | 50 | 10,000 | 5 |
Ghostmaster | Saturday & Sunday | 50 | 10,000 | 5 |
Remember that you don’t have to get to the exact location of these bosses. As I said above, if you can tap on them, you can fight them. From my own experience, I was able to tap a Nine-Tailed Fox that was barely showing up in the horizon.
These ghosts also walk or fly around a wide range from the Dimensional Door that they’re attached to, so don’t be surprised to see one float by if you’re close enough to a spawn point.
Global Multiplayer Bosses
Multiplayer Bosses show up on the top left of your screen in the same spot as the Single-Player Bosses. These bosses are on a three week cycle that repeats, and they only show up on Saturdays. These bosses also walk or fly around. There was a time that I wasn’t close enough to fight until it walked within 200M and I quickly started the battle before it walked away.
- Up to Four players can join forces to take down these bosses.
- You can solo these bosses with strong enough weapons.
- You must be within 200M of the ghost to fight it.
- Multiplayer Bosses only show up on Saturdays.
- Like the other bosses there is no limit to number of attacks.
- And you can pick the difficulty level.
Multiplayer Ghost | Shards | PKE | Rank |
Koza’Rai | 50 | 10,000 | 5 |
Stay Puft Marshmallow Man | 50 | 10,000 | 5 |
Ring Leader Ghost | 40 | 5,000 | 4 |
How to Catch a Boss Ghost
You won’t be able to catch these ghosts with any of the traps you have. Even the advanced trap isn’t strong enough. To add these ghosts to your containment unit, you need to collect enough shards. Once you have enough shards, head over to your inventory, find the ghost you want to collect and tap on it. Then tap the combine button.
Weapons for Boss Battles
- Particle Thrower (upgrade to at least level 3)
- Boson Caster (upgrade to at least level 3)
We recommend that you start getting your Particle Thrower and Boson Caster upgraded to (at least) level 3, to start. You’ll be able to take down any of the bosses on easy and normal. Keep going to higher levels, though. I am currently working toward level 4 with each of these. Once you’ve maxed these weapons, feel free to move on to your other secondary weapons.
Try not to waste ammo on the minions, as much as possible. Every time the boss disappears and reappears, two more minions will appear. Try to time your attacks so you’re not reloading when a target appears. If you can hit the target enough before the timer counts down, you’ll stop the ghost from attacking. Sometimes another target shows up soon after with a weak spot for you to attack for increased damage to the boss.
The game will warn you if the boss battle difficulty you’re about to do is impossible.
I finally got my Particle thrower up and was excited to move up in difficulty but I found that the spirit shards were the same, ie not every time and often getting skunked. Also it took much longer to defeat the boss so it seems to get spirit shards, might be better to stay at easy as you can play more often and thus higher spirit shard yield. Thoughts?
Yeah, until I have my Particle Thrower and Boson at level 5+, that will be when I try the harder levels more seriously. I might try a harder level or two just to see how I do now that I have both at 4+, but likely will try to do as many as I can on easy, when close enough to fight them.
