Last June, when we celebrated the 40th anniversary of Ghostbusters on Ghostbusters Day, Illfonic ran a contest where the community could vote for a ghost to be part of Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed. The result of that vote lead to The Boogieman being the next ghost to come to the game. And with DLC 8 (Patch 1.11.0), Boogieman has arrived!
He appeared in a very popular episode of The Real Ghostbusters called “The Boogieman Cometh.” He reappeared later in an episode called “The Bogeyman is Back.” (That’s not a typo, it was a simple spelling error when they named the episode.)
The episode revealed that the Boogieman was the reason that Egon became interested in the paranormal. The Boogieman tormented him when he was a kid.
In addition to Boogieman’s arrival, Patch 1.11.0 brings several gameplay tweaks and balance changes. Adjustments have been made to Busters’ movement speed, gear attachments, and gadgets, while Ghosts have received fine-tuning across multiple classes, including tweaks to their energy use, attack damage, and abilities. Bug fixes addressing emote audio and ability descriptions have also been included to ensure a smoother gameplay experience.
Check out the full patch notes below to see all the latest changes. Now get out there and bust some ghosts—or, if you’re feeling a little mischievous, spread some fear as the Boogieman himself!
