Sony Pictures Virtual Reality (SPVR) and nDreams have just revealed an expanded post-launch roadmap for Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord, bringing even more ghostbusting action and exciting new content to VR players. In the coming months, fans can expect fresh gameplay improvements, thrilling new modes, and some iconic Ghostbusters content to keep the ectoplasmic adventures going strong.
In a Developer Update video released today, Game Director Nathan Baseley shared the team’s plans to respond to community feedback with new narrative-driven content and atmospheric enhancements designed to amp up the chills and thrills. The full video is available for fans to dive into the details!
The roadmap kicks off with a new update dropping this Friday, headlined by the brand-new Infestation game mode, which is free for all players. In this mode, Ghostbusters will need to work together to trap a particularly stubborn ghostly intruder. For those who own the Full Containment Edition, four new character skins and two new equipment skins will also be available with the update—or players can purchase them separately.
Looking ahead to January, fans of the original 1984 film can step into the classic flight suits for the ultimate nostalgia hit, and face off against none other than Slimer in a new game mode. This will bring one of the most beloved and iconic ghosts into the VR world, promising a blast of ghostbusting fun!

Sony Pictures Virtual Reality (SPVR) and nDreams can today unveil an expanded post launch roadmap for Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord. The updates will bring new gameplay improvements, along with content from the wider world of Ghostbusters, to VR across the coming months.
In a Developer Update video released alongside the news today, Game Director Nathan Baseley detailed the intention to address community feedback over the course of the roadmap including additional narrative-infused content and atmospheric changes that will bring more thrills and frights to the game. Kicking off the expanded content roadmap is a new game update, releasing this Friday. Headlining this update is the brand-new Infestation game mode that is FREE to all players and sees the Ghostbusters teaming up to trap a stubborn ghostly intruder. Owners of the Full Containment Edition of the game can also claim four new character and two new equipment skins alongside the update. The skins can also be purchased separately.
In January, fans who have been dreaming of becoming a Ghostbuster since 1984 will have the opportunity to step into the movie’s original flight suits. Players will also come face to face with Slimer in a new game mode that brings one of the most iconic and beloved ghosts to life in VR.
