Wow. Just when we were excited for ONE new Ghostbusters video game in the upcoming Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, we get another game announced! This one is coming to the Meta Quest VR platform from nDreams. I have the first Oculus Quest (which is being rebranded as Meta Quest), but I have not upgraded to the Quest 2, figuring I would skip a generation. Depending on when Ghostbusters VR drops, I’ll decide then if it’s time to upgrade. I’ve heard the improved refresh rate helps cut down the motion sickness that I’ve felt from some games on the first Quest.
Description of Ghostbusters VR from nDreams:
Strap on your proton pack and Meta Quest 2 and step into the world of Ghostbusters in immersive virtual reality. Start your Ghostbusters HQ in a new city, San Francisco, and solve a deep mystery across a new chapter in the Ghostbusters universe.
Track, blast, and trap ghosts in gripping encounters by wielding iconic equipment. Go it alone, or as a team with up to three friends in co-op, in an extensive and engrossing campaign. Continue the Ghostbusters’ legacy, protect the city from fiendish ghosts, and experience all the humor and frights from the beloved franchise.
Add Ghostbusters VR (Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord) to your Meta Quest wishlist now!
The official site for the game is GhostbustersVR.com.
No word yet if it is compatible with the original Quest, or any other Oculus headsets. I’ll keep up on this though!
Update: It is not compatible with the original Quest. However, it will run on the Quest 2, the Quest Pro, and likely the Quest 3 when that launches next fall. It will also work on the PlayStation VR2 headset.
